Every question Canadian anglers have been asking

If any of these hit close to home, TrueNorthAngler was built for you.

💸Paid a fine because you didn't know the regulation for that zone?
📚 Still juggling regulation booklets for every province you fish?
🤔 Never sure if today's actually worth casting a line?
📓 Logging catches but never learning anything from them?
🌡️ No idea what the water temp is before you even leave home?
🐟 Caught something you couldn't identify on the spot?
📏 Tried measuring a fish with wet hands and no tape measure?
📶 Lost your map the second you lost signal?
📞 Out of range with no way to reach your fishing buddy?
🎣 No one around to ask about bait, rigs, or technique?
🍁 Want to know what other Canadians are catching - right now?
🪪 Scrambling to find your licence when the warden shows up?
🌊 Fish stopped biting and you have no idea why?

We built this because we fish.

It started on a lake in Manitoba. We were out on the water, phone in hand, trying to remember whether walleye had a size minimum in Zone 5. We couldn't find the answer without digging through a 180-page PDF. There had to be a better way.

We looked at every fishing app on the market. The big ones. None of them understood Canada. They didn't know our provinces, our zones, our species, or our seasons. They were built for American anglers on American waters. We cover 10 provinces and over 50 species - and we're just getting started.

So we built TrueNorthAngler ourselves - a Canadian app, built by Canadian anglers, for every angler from BC to Newfoundland. Every feature exists because one of us needed it on the water and couldn't find it anywhere else.

No more juggling five apps. TrueNorthAngler is the only fishing app you'll ever need.

📋

Provincial Regulations

Species-level limits, zone rules, season dates and size minimums for BC, AB, SK, MB, ON, QC, NS and NL - updated every season. Select your province and it just works.

📊

7-Day Fishing Forecast

A 0–100 daily bite score built from solunar tables, barometric pressure, moon phase, water temperature, wind and cloud cover. Know before you drive 3 hours to the lake.

🐟

Catch Logging

Log every catch with species, length, weight, bait, depth, water temp, GPS location and a photo. Your personal fishing journal - searchable, sortable, shareable.

📈

Personal Analytics

Your best time of day, best pressure conditions, catch streaks and dry spells - TrueNorthAngler learns your patterns and tells you when you're most likely to catch.

🐠

Fish ID from Photo

Snap a photo of your catch and identify the species instantly - complete with the bag limits and size minimums for your zone right there alongside the ID.

📏

Fish Measure (Camera)

Measure your catch using your phone camera and a bank card as a reference. Get an exact length and an instant keeper/release verdict for your zone - no tape measure needed.

🪪

Digital Licence Wallet

Store all your fishing licences - photo or PDF - in one secure place. Always with you, ready for a warden check in seconds.

🌡️

Water Temperature

Crowdsourced real-time water temps from anglers fishing the same waterbody. The most accurate temperature data for Canadian lakes - contributed by anglers, for anglers.

🦟

Hatch Calendar

Month-by-month insect hatch guide for trout and fly fishing. Know what's hatching this week and match your fly accordingly - built for Canadian freshwater conditions.

🤖

AI Fishing Advisor

Ask anything - what rig to use, where to position on the lake, why the bite went dead. The AI reads your current conditions and personal catch history before answering.

🎣

Bait & Rig Recommender

Tell the AI your species, conditions and season - it recommends the top baits, rigs and presentation techniques based on current fishing science and what's working regionally.

⚖️

Stay or Move Advisor

On the water and not catching? The AI reads your GPS position, current conditions, time of day and personal catch history to tell you whether to hold or relocate.

🧠

Pattern Analysis

AI analyses your entire catch log and surfaces your best fishing windows - best time of day, best pressure range, best moon phase - based purely on what has worked for you personally.

🐟

AI Fish Identification

Photograph any freshwater fish and the AI identifies the species, subspecies and regional variation - then shows you the exact regulations for your province and zone.

💬

24/7 AI Chat

Your personal fishing expert, always on. Ask about any species, technique, regulation, or condition - the AI gives you a real answer, not a search result.

🗺️

Interactive Zone Maps

Colour-coded fishing zones for all 10 provinces - green (open), red (closed), amber (C&R). Tap any zone to see species limits and season dates for today.

📵

Offline Maps

Download your fishing area before you leave home. Full zone maps, GPS positioning and waterbody data work perfectly with zero cell signal - essential for remote Canadian waters.

Fuel Stations

See gas stations near your launch point or along your route - so you never run out of fuel on a remote highway before you even reach the lake.

🚤

Boat Ramps

Every public boat launch plotted on the map. Filter by province and see which ramps are accessible for your boat size.

🏕️

Campsites

Plan overnight fishing trips with campsite data layered directly on the map. See what's near your target waterbody before you leave home.

📍

Spot Memory

Every catch you log auto-saves the conditions at that spot - temperature, pressure, wind, time of day. Build a private library of productive spots over time.

🍁

Canadian Community

A fishing community 100% focused on Canada. No American-dominated forums where our regulations are an afterthought. Just Canadian anglers talking about Canadian fishing.

📸

Catch Sharing

Share your catches to the community feed with a photo, species, and conditions. See what's biting across the country in real time.

💬

Direct Messaging

Chat privately with other anglers. Get tips from someone fishing your waterbody right now, or coordinate your next trip with your crew.

👥

Follow & Discover

Follow other anglers, see their catch logs and reports. Discover who's consistently catching on your local lakes and learn from them directly.

🏆

Zone Leaderboards

See the top catches logged on your zone this season. Community-driven data that tells you what species are active and at what sizes.

📡

P2P Offline Chat

Two phones, no signal, still need to communicate? TrueNorth Nearby creates a local peer-to-peer connection so your fishing crew can stay in touch anywhere.

🆘

One-Tap 911

Emergency call button always one tap away. Pre-loaded with your GPS coordinates so you can read your exact position to rescue services instantly.

🔦

SOS Strobe

Turn your phone screen into a high-visibility strobe light for signalling in low visibility conditions or after dark.

📍

GPS Coordinates

Your exact lat/long displayed and ready to copy or read out - critical for calling in your position to air or marine rescue.

🛰️

Satellite Messenger Links

Quick-launch links to Garmin inReach, SPOT, Zoleo and Meshtastic for areas with zero cell coverage. Connects you to your satellite device in one tap.

Your personal fishing expert - powered by AI.

TrueNorthAngler doesn't just give you data. It reads your conditions, your history, and your location - then tells you exactly what to do.

🎣

Bait & Rig Recommendations

Tell the AI your target species and current conditions. It recommends specific baits, hook sizes, rig setups and presentation depth - based on actual fishing science.

⚖️

Stay or Move Advisor

Not catching? The AI reads your position, time, conditions and personal catch history and gives you a plain recommendation: hold your spot or move, and where to try next.

📈

Personal Pattern Learning

Over time the AI learns when you personally fish best - your best hours, best conditions, best moon phases - and surfaces these insights automatically.

🌡️

Conditions Intelligence

Barometric pressure drop alerts tell you when a bite window is opening or closing - before you feel the change in the air. The AI watches the data so you don't have to.

AI Chat - Live Example
YOU
I'm on Lake Winnipeg, Zone 5, targeting walleye. Pressure's been dropping since this morning. Should I switch baits?
TRUENORTH AI
Yes - dropping pressure often triggers walleye to go deeper and slow down. I'd switch to a heavier jig (¾oz+) in a natural colour like chartreuse or white, and slow your retrieve significantly. Focus on the 18–25ft break line. Based on your catch history, you've had your best walleye sessions in Zone 5 between 6–9am - if it's past that window, moving to a deeper basin structure would be my next move.

We used real fishing science to build the forecast.

Not a simple weather widget. TrueNorthAngler's forecast engine synthesises six independent scientific variables into a single daily score that actually predicts fish activity.

🌕

Solunar Tables

Peak feeding windows based on moon position and gravitational pull - used by serious anglers for decades, now calculated automatically for your exact location.

⬆️

Barometric Pressure

Rising pressure = active fish. Dropping pressure = feeding frenzy before the front. Stable = predictable. The app reads and interprets the trend, not just the number.

🌡️

Water Temperature

Each species has an optimal feeding temperature range. Community readings + Open-Meteo data give you an accurate surface temp for your specific waterbody.

💨

Wind Speed & Direction

Light onshore wind pushes baitfish to windward shores. Heavy wind disrupts presentation. The AI weighs both effects by species.

☁️

Cloud Cover

Overcast skies reduce light penetration, pushing predators shallower and triggering more aggressive feeding - especially for pike and bass.

🌧️

Precipitation

Light rain increases dissolved oxygen and can trigger active feeding. Heavy precipitation muddies the water and hurts visibility - scored accordingly.

💸
Canadian anglers face fines from $200 to $100,000+ for regulation violations - many committed unknowingly. A wrong-zone walleye or an undersized trout can cost you your season and your equipment. TrueNorthAngler shows you exactly what's legal today, in your zone, before you even cast.
